Building your own dream home

Buy an Island Lot and Build Later 
 
Property on an island is scarce and many folks want to secure a piece of land on Ambergris Caye for a future home. It is easier than you think.

Here is a brief video to tell you :
1) You are building or anchoring on Limestone bedrock formed during the Paleozoic era up to 2.8 million years ago.
2) The bedrock is typically 6-9 ft below the surface soil, and the water, too.
3)  The columns used are cast concrete reinforced with steel rebar 12 x 12 and usually 12 ft tall.
4) The beams are 12×12 of the same material. One builder believes in wider beams of 16″.
5)  Concrete block is 8″ wide and forms the walls 
 
This makes for an attractive and very sturdy concrete home with a long physical life 
Because of its durability, you need not worry about repairs to the outside.
Some folks on the island repaint every 7 years and others wait much longer
